Finally a phone system which shares the Caller ID log!I've had a few different multi-phone systems in the past from Panasonic and even tried a few other manufacturers before returning them to go back to Panasonic, but the one feature I've been hoping to find for years was a shared caller ID log. When you answer an incoming call on one handset the rest of the handsets no longer show a missed call, they show the caller ID info in the log if you want to look, but they don't keep up the message saying you missed the call, same if you did miss a call and look at the log on one handset the rest stop showing a missed call!
Talking Caller ID:
Not a new offering on Panasonic cordless phone systems but one I definitely got used to with my last system so I wanted to make sure this one had it.It pronounces most names relatively well so most of the time you know if it is worth even looking for a handheld or not.
Shared Phonebook:
This phone also features a shared phonebook which is great because you enter a number at any handset and it is immediately available on all the other phones without you having to sync the new number each of the other handsets. The only downside is that only 1 phone can be accessing the phonebook at any time although since these are a single line phone I don't see that as a big downside to the shared approach and the simplicity this design provides.I still wish they would provide a way to connect the handsets to a computer to sync your contacts from Outlook or at the very least use a program on the computer to enter your phonebook entries so you can use a full size keyboard rather than the 3 or 4 letters per button old phone style.
Backlit keypad and display:
This isn't a new offering in cordless phones but it is still very convenient for dim or dark calls like when I'm on-call and have to return a call at 3am.
Speaker phone on the base and handsets:
Again not a new feature on cordless phones but nice to have, even with 4 handsets scattered throughout the house there are still times when it is easier to use the speaker phone on the base than try to find a handset before the call rolls over to voicemail.
Voicemail stutter detection and alerting:
Yes there is a built in answering system which works well but voicemail has too many advantages to ignore so it is nice to finally know there is a message waiting rather than having to turn on a handset for a second to listen to the tone. Each handset has a small light which lights when there is an incoming call and now also slower if there is a voice mail message waiting to be retrieved. The display also shows you have a missed call and a new voice mail. The phone also lets you store the number to call to check your voice mail so you can go to the V.M. access menu and push select to automatically call your voice mail system.
Quality and range:
Of course the sound quality is as good as ever as is the signal strength which is why I have always stayed with Panasonic the last 8 years.
