Panasonic Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System Review

Panasonic Dect 6.0 Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System - Single Handset SystemI've had this phone for a couple months now, bought as a replacement for a 900MHz Uniden that consumed Ni-Cad batteries faster than I liked and had a failing keypad.Sound quality is certainly acceptable but honestly, the 900MHz phones sounded a bit better.Battery standby life is very good thus far; battery talk life is ok.Unit does not use a proprietary battery pack and the two Ni-MH AAA batteries can be replaced w/ any generic Ni-MH AAA batteries if needed.Phone is just thick enough to cradle between head and shoulder if desired but not for extended periods.Speakerphone on the handset seems perfectly acceptable to me and the ability to check messages from the answering machine via the handset on speakerphone is great bit of useful functionality.

User interface is relatively straightforward but the address book is fairly crude and time consuming to populate.Ringtone selection consists of one passable standard tone and a whole bunch of highly irritating novelty ringtones.Overall this is good value and thus far the electronics seem consistent with Panasonic's reputation for making reliable phones.I wish they could put more effort into the visual design and move away from the chromed plastic bits as it still looks like a disposable plastic consumer appliance and something you wish was out of sight.

Product Description:
The Panasonic KX-TG9331T DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Digital Answering Phone System assures greater protection against eavesdropping for all your calls. DECT 6. 0, an acronym that stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications, is a technology that lets you move freely around your home with long range and amazingly clear sound. Operating in the 1.9 GHz frequency range, your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens, and other common household devices.
Expandable to up to six handsets, you can program each handset to ring at your discretion. Before going to sleep, simply set the bedside handset to night mode so that it won't ring in your bedroom. In the meantime, the handset in the den will still ring when that important call comes in without disturbing the person who's sleeping. The system comes with advanced caller ID2, a feature that allows you to see the ID of an incoming call even if you're already on the line with someone else. There's even a text-to-speech technology, which announces caller ID information between rings.
The system also boasts a talking alarm clock, and a talking battery alert that politely tells you when your battery is low with a "Please charge phone" reminder. Store the caller ID info of any and all unwanted callers into your phone's Call Block list to eliminate future pesky calls. After the information is stored, your unwanted callers will receive a busy signal when they call you again. The light-up indicator with ringer alert at the base of the antenna will flash quickly to show that you have an incoming call, and it will flash slowly to let you know you have a new message.
Providing up to five hours of cordless talk time, the handset's rechargeable Ni-MH battery offers up to 11 days of uncharged standby battery life.
